| Highland Lodge’s cross-country ski trails are closed until next December. We reopen May 23 for tennis, bicycling and birding and Caspian Lake is warm enough for swimming by the end of June. | It is a beautiful, sunny day, with temperatures expected to rise into the 40s. That should help soften up the snow, even though in the places where it is icy, that might not help much. But by early this afternoon, there might be some decent spring conditions to play with in places. If you're jonesing to get in some end-of-year skiing, there will probably be something to work with today when the snow is softer. Carpe skiem! We plan to be open through Sunday, April 6 if conditions permit. |

As it warms up this time of year it gets slushy in the afternoon, so try to time your skiing for the period right after the temperature goes above the freezing mark. All trails are groomed for both classic and skate skiing today. The wax is red klister. The trails should stay open for several days yet. There is still plenty of snowpack, but the weather is definitely warming up and spring is coming soon. |
